The University Women of Flagler (UWF) was founded in June 2006. The purpose of UWF is to unite graduates of regionally accredited educational institutions in order to promote equity, education, intellectual growth, individual worth, and development of opportunities for women and girls in the Flagler County area. UWF promotes positive societal change in the community; participates in the development and promotion of policies and programs through study, action, and public policy advocacy in areas related to its purpose, including community, cultural interests, and the maintenance of high standards in education.
The UWF holds general meetings monthly from September through May, publishes a newsletter, The WAVE, and holds fundraising events to support its scholarship funds.
Membership is open to all women with a 4-year college degree or higher.
Hello, and welcome to our Web Site!
University Women of Flagler is a nonprofit organization of college-educated women committed to helping young women in the area achieve their higher education goals. Since our inception in 2006, we have given scholarships to more than 50 high school young women totaling more than sixty thousand dollars ($60,000). Many of these young women have completed college and have gone on to make meaningful contributions in our society. We also support children in the “Take Stock in Children program. This program supports children academically from elementary through high school.
In addition to our philanthropic goals, we plan activities for our own educational enlightenment as well as some activities just to have a good time. Our members participate in a book club, attend plays and live performances throughout our region, join a lunch bunch, and tour historic sites, museums and other places of interest. There are also games to play, mahjong and bridge. In fact, one of our major events is a Day of Games. There is always something engaging going on with University Women of Flagler.
If you are a graduate of a four year college, this is the one organization you want to join. We make a difference in our community and we’ll make a difference in your life.
